Summer Mission Teams

June 11-19

Brazil--Our team of 15 High School Students and 9 adults will travel to the fishing village of Ariri on the coast 75 miles SE of Sao Paulo. Ariri is isolated and its population consists of impoverished families who have lived there all their lives. They support themselves with fishing. While there we will join the Brazilians as they continue the construction of adding on to a building which our High School student ministry began 5 years ago.  We will also touch lives through Children's VBS and a Women's Ministry.  In all these instances we are able to share the story of the Good News of Christ. Last summer an all adult team began the building addition. This team is FULL.

June 25-July 2

Mountain T.O.P. (Tennessee Outreach Project)

Adults in Ministry has two aspects:

  1. Adults to serve at a camp for teens called Summer +
75% of the students at Grundy County High School are considered economically disadvantaged. Many find themselves forced into adult responsibilities, such as caring for younger siblings or working to contribute to the household income.
At Summer Plus, these teens have the opportunity to explore new interests in a fun, Christian environment. Caring adults from a variety of life experiences come and lead or assist in workshops with diverse topics. More than teaching new skills, the adults bring encouragement and love to the teenagers giving new life perspectives and helping kindle a strong desire to succeed.
  2. Adults to serve in Major Home Repairs
Mountain T.O.P. seeks to meet the physical, spiritual, social and emotional needs of the people in Grundy County, Tennessee. Through the MHR program, they are able to assist by building porches, clearing brush, painting houses and actively interacting with the people of the area. This program also allows MTOP to take on and complete vital structural repairs and renovations of local homes that would not be possible otherwise.

There are openings on this team. Please contact Gwynda Patterson, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , for more information.
